In March 2020, Daniel came home early from university due to the first wave of Covid-19 in Nova Scotia. Their father had a small garden where they had been growing tomatoes and other veggies each year. This year, with the extra time on hand, and with the thought that food scarcity may become more prominent in the future, they decided to expand their hobby of gardening by building 8 raised garden beds for their backyard. After seeing their backyard, family members began expressing interest in having garden beds built for them. Through discovering first-hand how easy and convenient it is to begin a garden anywhere through the use of raised garden beds, and having fun building them, Daniel built garden beds for his family members, which followed with posting advertisements online. This hobby quickly grew into the formation of Winters Garden Beds. This first season was entirely based within Halifax NS, but our team now delivers products throughout the entire province of Nova Scotia.
